RED ROOTS INTRO LEVEL 1 & 2 YOUTH WRESTLING
2025 - 2026 Fall/Winter Season - (Grades K-8)
This is our town based youth folkstyle/wrestling season. Introduction to Wrestling is geared toward children just being introduced to the sport.  This three-month program meets twice a week and introduces the participants to the sport of wrestling.  The fundamentals of grappling are incorporated into a fun, engaging and age-appropriate atmosphere.  There will be two options for classes.  Monday and Wednesday OR Tuesday and Thursday.  Individuals will be divided into groups based on age, weight, experience, and ability.  For older or more athletic kids, there will be an opportunity to switch to the advanced program upon a coach's review.  Participants should wear "gym clothes" for practices.  There will be opportunities to compete against other towns, as well as wrestle in tournaments.  - Practices will be 2 days a week for 1 hour each.

RED ROOTS ADVANCED YOUTH WRESTLING
2025 - 2026 Fall/Winter Season - (Grades 3-8)
This is our town based youth advanced folkstyle/wrestling season. Advanced Wrestling is geared to children in Grades 3-8 but will consider younger children on request.  This three-month program (approximately  practices with additional scrimmages, dual meets and tournaments) incorporates instruction, conditioning, and games as a means of expanding on the fundamentals learned in the Introduction to Wrestling program.  Individuals are divided into groups based on age, weight, experience and ability.  Practices are planned for Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning mid-November.  Participants should wear shorts and tight fitting t-shirts (no sweatpants or basketball shorts) for practices and dual meets, but may be required to wear a singlet, wrestling shoes and headgear in tournaments.  There is an expectation that 5th-8th grade youth wrestlers will compete against other teams throughout the season as well as in tournaments at the end of the season.  In some instances younger wrestlers will be invited to participate. Some events occur on weekends, generally Saturday mornings for dual meets (3-4 times during the season) and tournaments on Sundays (3-4 times during the season).  *Please note that the season may extend based on some individuals that qualify for tournaments. Cost of program does not includes team uniforms and singlets (approx $100). Practices will be 2 days a week for 1.5 hours each.  *In order to compete for our town team you must not be from a town that has an organized and affiliated MWA youth wrestling program.
